Surface Settlement Due to Shear Stresses at Depth

The present investigation deals with the analysis of an axisymmetrically loaded elastic halfspace containing a solid circular plate. The elastic halfspace and the embedded plate has been idealised together as a layered system. Layered theory has been used to determine the shear stress distribution on the embedded plate. Results have been presented for the shear stress distribution on the embedded plate for different values of the relative rigidity parameter.
