“…The spectra were resolved into five Gaussian curve-fitted peaks: −CF 3 around 294.0 eV, −CF 2 − around 291.5 eV, −C=O around 288.5 eV, −C−O−C=O around 286.5 eV, and hydrocarbon (−CH n : n=0-3) around 284.6 eV, from high to low binding energy. These peak assignments agree well with the previously reported values [15,30] . Table 2 summarizes the composition of the functional groups at various probe depths of the PBMA-ec-FMA films.…”

“…The crystalline peak (located at 2θ = 17°) is equivalent to 5.2 Å, according to Bragg's equation. This reflection corresponds to the inter-chain interference from the hexagonal packing of perfluoroalkyl side chains [15,29,30] . It is apparent that a more ordered and closely-packed structure, namely, the hexagonal packing of the perfluoroalkyl side chains, was formed near the end-capped PBMA 164 film surface, compared with the end-capped PBMA 101 film with the same number of FMA units.…”

“…In the IR spectrum of F-XC-72R, new absorbance bands at ca. 1207 and 1151 cm -1 are observed, which are attributable to C-F x absorptions [23,24], suggesting that the FAS is successfully introduced into XC-72R. Figure 2 compares the contact angle for GDLs with different carbon materials on carbon cloth containing 20% PTFE.…”

“…Although these theories are not applicable in some conditions [8,9], it is confirmed that surface topography and chemical composition exhibit significant influence on hydrophobicity of a solid surface. Nishino et al [10] studied surface properties of di-block and random copolymers containing fluorine, showing that the difference in molecular sequence caused obvious difference in morphology and composition at the surface. Ha et al [11,12] investigated surface properties of core-shell latex particles containing fluorinated polymer shell.…”

“…Emulsion polymerization is very important due to the versatility in structure design and control of the composition in latex particles [10,11,[13][14][15][16][17][18][19][20][21]. To improve compatibility of fluorinated monomers with other monomers and stability of emulsion polymerization, a few amount of acetone is often added in emulsion polymerization [12,22].…”
