Surface Properties and Corrosion Behavior of Turn-Assisted Deep-Cold-Rolled AISI 4140 Steel

Abstract: In this research, the effect of various turn-assisted deep-cold-rolling process parameters on the residual stress, microstructure, surface hardness, surface finish, and corrosion behavior of AISI 4140 steel has been investigated. The examination of the surface morphology of the turned and processed samples was performed by using a scanning electron microscope, energy-dispersive spectroscopy, and atomic force microscopy. Response surface methodology and desirability function approach were used for reducing the … Show more

“…Furthermore, in another work, P. R. Prabhu et al [46] discussed the influence of DR on surface properties along with the corrosion behavior of AISI 4140 steel. Their findings showed, among the considered DR control parameters, that the rolling force and rolling ball size along with the number of roll passes had a significant influence on surface properties, primarily roughness and hardness.…”

“…Recently, multivariate techniques are frequently used in optimization studies because they require less time, reagents, and experimental work. The design of experiment is widely used as an empirical multivariate modelling strategy to graphically assess the link between various factors and outcome parameters for optimization [30][31][32][33][34][35][36]. Accessible designs are useful to notice the impacts of factors and their interactions on the measured responses with a moderately lower number of investigations and to create a numerical model.…”

“…Although a lot of research articles have come out concerning the excellent blend of mechanical properties in DP steels (A. Karimi, S. Kheirandish, 2017;Basantia et al, 2021;Bilal et al, 2019;Fereiduni & Ghasemi Banadkouki, 2014;Kumar et al, 2019;Shahzad et al, 2018;Xiong et al, 2019;Zhao et al, 2019;Zhu, 2019), further examinations are important to discover the influence of phase constituents on the corrosion resistance properties (Bignozzi et al, 2020;Gürkan Aydın, 2019;Ma et al, 2020;P. R. Prabhu, Prabhu, Sharma et al, 2020;Zhang et al, 2020).…”
