“…In most cases, nanocrystalline titanium dioxide can be synthesized by wet or dry processes. In last years, a variety of methods, such as sol-gel [57,58], hydrothermal/solvothermal methods [59,60], or methods based on electrochemical anodization [6163] have been developed to control the size, morphology, and porosity and of the resulting TiO 2 nanostructures. DDS methods have been developed primarily for the anthracycline cytostatic doxorubicin, which is one of the most commonly used cytostatics.…”

“…TiO 2 nanotubes for delivery of drugs and other biomolecules have also been described (Hu et al, 2012;Huang et al, 2014;Kwon et al, 2017). These can be designed to both encapsulate and display the molecule of interest on the material surface (Huang et al, 2014). One group directly functionalized the surface of TiO 2 nanotubes with BMP-2, which promoted osteogenic differentiation in vitro (Lai et al, 2011).…”

“…Huang et al demonstrated that novel drug delivery nanosystems, such as enrofloxacin (Enro)‐NH 2 ‐TNTs and enrofloxacin‐SH‐TNTs, were successfully synthesized through vacuum processing and a pH adjusted method using NH 2 ‐TNTs and SH‐TNTs as drug delivery materials . Through XRD, IR, BET and TEM analyses, Enro molecules were found to interact with modified TNTs through ionic bonds or hydrogen bonds.…”
