Surface Micro-Reflector Array for Augmented Reality Display

Abstract: Geometric optical waveguide display can significantly miniaturize the augmented reality eyeglasses, but suffers from the ghost image. In this paper, a method using surface micro-reflector array is proposed, which can dramatically suppress the ghost image. The transmission and expansion of the light bearing image are completed by using planar waveguide and micro-reflector array embedded in the surface layer of waveguide. The image quality is improved by using the dual channel to eliminate ghost image. The imagi… Show more

“…The optical module requirements for Optical-based AR systems are quite high. Yan et al99 proposed the use of a dual channel surface micro-reflector array waveguide structure optical element that has the advantages of a simple structure, easy preparation, and high structural strength. The display field of view is shown to be 25° 25°, and the size of the whole field of view area is 15 mm with even light distribution.…”

“…Among them, f(T) is the local texture feature of the visual image of product fading surface modeling, s (c−v)/(c + v), which represents the scale factor of Harris corner detection. To sum up, the block template matching of product fading surface modeling is carried out, and the modeling design is carried out according to the block template matching results [20,21].…”

“…Thin, visually transparent lighting panels that can redirect, reshape, and/or diffuse light in an engineered fashion when illuminated have been attracting attention lately. Such panels can find useful applications in many areas ranging from augmented reality devices [1][2][3][4][5][6], transparent displays [7][8][9], solar energy harvesting [10,11], and indoor lighting [7, 12, * Author to whom any correspondence should be addressed.…”

“…Numerous novel ideas have been put forth in the making of such light-emitting transparent panels, which can be categorized into a few major groups based on their working principles. The most straightforward implementations are based on surface relief or embedded physical perturbations, on or within a transparent substrate, using micro-features [1,2,7,10,[13][14][15][16][17][18], particles [8,12], and/or buried reflecting surfaces [3,4] that abruptly disturb the propagation of light that interacts with them. These approaches can be well-suited in applications that work with a broad spectrum of light.…”
