Surface-enhanced pair transfer amplitude in quadrupole states of neutron-rich Sn isotopes

Abstract: We investigate the neutron pair transfer modes associated with the low-lying quadrupole states in neutron-rich Sn isotopes by means of the quasiparticle random phase approximation based on the Skyrme-Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov mean-field model. The transition strength of the quadrupole pair-addition mode feeding the 2 + 1 state is enhanced in the Sn isotopes with A 132. The transition density of the pair-addition mode has a large spatial extension in the exterior of the nucleus, reaching to r ∼ 12-13 fm. The quad… Show more

“…Our theoretical tool is the Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov mean-field model using the Skyrme energy density functional and the continuum quasiparticle random phase approximation, and it is the same as adopted in Ref. [23]. A similar approach is made in Khan et al [21,26], where the L = 0 pairing vibration in neutron-rich Sn isotopes is also studied.…”

“…[21,22] and in Ref. [23], respectively. Recent experiments of (p, t) reaction on light-mass neutron-rich nuclei such as 11 Li [2,24,25] and 6,8 He [1, [3][4][5] point to the importance of the pair correlation in these typical halo or skin nuclei.…”

“…The effect of correlations between nucleons on the nuclear breakup mechanism has been studied both experimentally and theoretically [39,40]. There exists also several studies demonstrating enhancement of the pair correlation in the nuclear surface and exterior regions of the neutron-rich nuclei [35][36][37][38]. By describing the capture (fusion) reactions at sub-barrier energies within the quantum diffusion approach, we want to demonstrate indirectly the strong surface enhancement of the neutron pairing in the stable and unstable nuclei.…”

“…We consider a spherical cell whose radius is fixed to 20 fm while we performed systematic calculation for various Z = 20 − 50 and neutron density ρ n (via varying λ n ). Under the above setup, we perform the linear response (QRPA) calculation to explore collective excitation of inner crust matter using an extended version of our QRPA code [14][15][16]. In the present study we focus on SPH with the dipole multipolarity since it is responsible to the coupling to the displacement motion of the cluster, which brings about the LPH.…”
