“…There are two possible basic coordination modes of mono‐terpyridine and bis ‐terpyridine complexes as shown in Figure 1. [ 18–21 ] The most common binding mode of terpyridine ligand is chelation via the N 3 motif and the meridional binding. However, there is an uncommon mode of monodentate complexation, which has recently been observed in terpyridine complex of Au.…”

“…Following the ligand synthesis, the platinum precursor cis-[PtCl 2 (COD)] 42 was reacted directly with the respective terpyridine ligand to yield the platinum complexes of the form [Pt(R-tpy)Cl] + (PtL1, PtL3, PtL4), while PtL1 has previously been synthesized using cis-[PtCl 2 (DMSO) 2 ] as the platinum precursor (Scheme 2). 43 Upon formation of complexes PtL3 and PtL4, the signals in the aromatic region of the 1 H NMR spectra (7.0−9.2 ppm) shifted relative to the resonances observed for their respective ligands (Figures S1 and S2). Furthermore, a more definitive indication of PtL3 and PtL4 formation lies in the ESI-mass spectra with peaks at m/z 610.1171 and 646.0505 which were assigned to the ions [M − Cl] + (PtL3) and [M − 2Cl − H] + (PtL4), respectively.…”

“…Reports of the application of cyclometalated Ir III complexes in vapour-deposited OLEDs both as efficient emissive and charge-transporting materials (Adamovich et al, 2003;Grushin et al, 2001) and the luminescent properties of a distorted octahedral Ni II complex with 5,5 0 -dimethyl-2,2 0 -bipyridine have been published (Abedi et al, 2015). The synthesis and a study of the thermal and luminescent properties of d 8 transition-metal complexes with the incorporation of substituted 2,2 0 ;6 0 ,2 00 -terpyridine ligands were described by Momeni et al (2017).…”
