Supramolecular Guanosine 5‘-Monophosphate Structures in Solution. Light Scattering Study

Abstract: During the past decade, from the vast evidence it became clear that DNA oligomers rich in guanine stretches can form in solution highly ordered forms called G-quadruplexes and G-wires. G-quadruplexes are present in many sites of the human genome, can inhibit telomerase, and can be used as drug delivery supramolecules. G-wires and related structures seem to be an excellent material of biological origin for nanostructures. Therefore, in this paper we have studied the structures formed by specific association of … Show more

“…Further tetramer association is stabilized primarily by the π−π interaction. The relatively weak exciton couplet VCD signal proved the coexistence of stacked associates (M) n and other associates composed from G4, which is in an agreement with the DLS of GMP/Na + [6,19,23,24]. Thus, for both studied concentrations (0.3 and 0.7 mol L −1 ), the observed ECD contained spectral features that strongly overlapped and represented the superposition of the (M) n pattern and the exciton couplet.…”
