“…Moreover, the following properties are required for the particles charged into sintering machine; the quasi-particles, granules of coarse iron ore with fines adhered on them, must be hard not to break down when they are charged into feed hopper (drop strength) and inside the feed hopper (compressive strength) and the quasi-particles also keep their shapes during sintering, especially in dry zone (dry strength). In addition, it is well known that the structure and strength of the quasi-particles are influenced greatly by the porosity of iron ore, wettability between iron ore and water, adding moisture and characteristic of surface of iron ore. “…Although the measuring method was different from this study, it was reported that the contact angle between hematite ore and water was about 60-75°in previous studies. 1,4) Therefore, the values of the contact angle at 0 min of retention time obtained in this study seem to be not so different from the previous ones even taking into account of the differences of measuring methods, brand of iron ores and surface property.
