Abstract:Abstract:The effects of several inhibitors of lipoxygenases were investigated in murine spleen cell cultures activated with endotoxin (lipopolysaccharide) It was found that these inhibitors interfere with the proliferative response of the cultures. Indomethacin, a specific cyclooxygenase inhibitor, had no such effect. Endotoxin induced the synthesis of tumour necrosis factor a in spleen cells which was prevented by treatment with a lipoxygenase inhibitor. The inhibition of the mitogenic effect of endotoxin cou… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
