Supporting QoS in MANET by a Fuzzy Priority Scheduler and Performance Analysis with Multicast Routing Protocols

Abstract:

Mobile ad hoc network is an autonomous system of mobile nodes characterized by wireless links. The major challenge in ad hoc networks lies in adapting multicast communication to environments, where mobility is unlimited and failures are frequent. Such problems increase the delays and decrease the throughput. To meet these challenges, to provide QoS, and hence to improve the performance, a scheduler can be used. In this paper we design a fuzzy-based priority scheduler to determine the priority of the packets… Show more

“…Gomathy and Shanmugavel [21] have shown how to integrate the techniques of fuzzy logic and scheduling principles to produce a fuzzy-based priority scheduler. The paper analyzed the performance of the novel fuzzy-based priority scheduler, for data traffic and evaluated the effect of inclusion of this scheduler with different underlying multicast routing protocols, like NTPMR, CAMP, and ODMRP, run over IEEE 802.11 as the MAC protocol.…”

“…To improve the performance and maintain the QoS in MANET the scheduler can be used. C. Gomathy et al [5] has been design a fuzzy based priority scheduler to determine the priority of the packets. Kumar et al [6] defined how to improve the end-to-end QoS target in MANET.…”

“…For example, in the past few years, research has been carried out to apply neural networks to video in wired and wireless networks, such as video conferencing, MPEG-4 VBR traffic prediction and video over wireless technology, with various degree of success [29,17,28]. Fuzzy logic also has been applied to wireless medium access control for assignment of resources for video/audio, the priority scheduler in Mobile Ad hoc NETworks and video variable bit rate streaming over Digital Video Broadcasting for Handheld (DVB-H) terminals [18,7,22].…”
