Support Vector Machine: A Case Study in the Kert Aquifer for Predicting the Water Quality Index in Mediterranean Zone, Drouich Province, Oriental Region, Morocco

Abstract: The expansion of urbanization and the amplification of anthropic activities in the Rif region require the establishment of wells. However, the irrational exploitation of water and natural conditions have generated the rise of the water table and the increase in pollution. Thus, the assessment of water quality has emerged as a significant concern. This study’s goal is to assess the adequacy of groundwater quality in two aquifers in the vicinity of the Mediterranean Zone - Drouich Province and Oriental Region, M… Show more

“…Research using the DRASTIC vulnerability model and nitrate contamination in Morocco indicates an increased risk of groundwater pollution from seawater intrusion and human activities; the most vulnerable areas are located alongside agricultural areas as well as villages and cities. This causes a serious environmental problem for the groundwater reserves in the coastal areas of Morocco [ 64 , 65 , 66 , 67 , 68 ]. Consequently, in the Ghiss Nekkor alluvial aquifer, our results show that the levels of EC generally exceed the WHO recommended limits.…”

“…The western Gareb mountain range acts as a barrier between it and the rest of the world, which is located to the east. The Temsamane metamorphic massif, which runs between latitudes 34°55'N and 35°54'N [19,20], borders the Plain to the North and northwest, may be found in the northeastern part of Morocco, which is situated between latitudes 34°55'N and 35°54'W.…”
