Globalization has put fierce competition for manufacturing managers in terms of flexibility, smaller lead times, competitive costs, etc. To attain these capabilities, manufacturing managers are taking heedless decisions for investing in advanced manufacturing technologies, without measuring their actual effectiveness for their organisations. There is a need to measure the effectiveness of manufacturing systems to make better future policies and investment planning. This paper provides a comprehensive bibliography on the techniques and their rationale in the effectiveness measurement of advanced manufacturing systems. The paper cites 265 articles from a variety of published sources. The list contains published research mainly from 1990 to 2012 and a selected published work prior to 1990.

Partner selection is crucial to green supply chain management as the focal firm is responsible for the environmental performance of the whole supply chain. The construction of appropriate selection criteria is an essential, but often neglected prerequisite in the partner selection process. This paper proposes a three-stage model that combines Dempster-Shafer belief acceptability theory and particle swarm optimization technique for the first time in this application. This enables optimization of both effectiveness, in its consideration of the inter-dependence of a broad range of quantitative and qualitative selection criteria, and efficiency in its use of scarce resources during the criteria construction process to be achieved simultaneously. This also enables both operational and strategic attributes can be selected at different levels of hierarchy criteria in different decision-making environments. The practical efficacy of the model is demonstrated by an application in Company ABC, a large Chinese electronic equipment and instrument manufacturer.

The aim of this paper is to investigate intuitionistic fuzzy multiple attribute decision making problems with preference information on alternatives, in which the information on attribute weights is completely unknown and the attribute values and preference information on alternatives take the form of intuitionistic fuzzy numbers. In order to get the weight vector of the attribute, we establish an optimization model based on the basic ideal of traditional grey relational analysis (GRA) method, by which the attribute weights can be determined. Then, based on the traditional GRA method, calculation steps for solving intuitionistic fuzzy multiple attribute decision-making problems with incompletely known weight information are given. The degree of grey relation between each alternative and subjective preference is defined to determine the ranking order of all alternatives. The method can sufficiently utilize the objective information, and meet decision makers' subjective preference, can also be easily performed on computer. Furthermore, we shall extend the developed models and procedures to solve the interval-valued intuitionistic fuzzy multiple attribute decision making problems with preference information on alternatives. Finally, an illustrative example is given to verify the developed approach and to demonstrate its practicality and effectiveness.
