Supplementation of Gamal leaves flour (Gliricidia sepium) in commercial feed on the growth of Nirwana tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) fingerlings

Abstract: This study aimed to examine the effect of Gamal leaves flour supplementation in commercial feed on the growth of Nirwana tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) fingerlings. The experimental design used was a non-factorial completely randomized design consisting of four treatments and four replications. The treatments studied included commercial feed without supplementation of Gamal leaves flour as a control (P0), commercial feed with supplementation of Gamal leaves flour 10% kg−1 feed (P1), commercial feed with suppl… Show more

“…The survival rate of Nirwana tilapia in this study was higher than other tilapia commodities (97%). Nirwana tilapia is one of the superior tilapia species which is the result of a cross between GIFT tilapia and GET tilapia from the Philippines, with a high level of tolerance to environmental changes (Islama et al 2021). The average weight gain of nirwana tilapia at the end of the rearing period in this study was 176.59 ± 0.10 g, with an average daily growth value of 1.26 grams, a weight gain of 337.6 ± 48%, and an FCR of 1.07.…”

Nirwana tilapia fed gamal leaf meal (Gliricidia sepium) produced an average growth of 0.11 per day [17]. Tilapia with a stocking density of 25 individuals/m 3 has reached the weight gain was 215.63 ± 6.17 grams, while tilapia with a stocking density of 50 individuals/m 3 was 216.46 ± 50.01 grams, and the stocking density of 100 individuals/m 3 was 165.40 grams [18].…”

“…Menurut (Febrina et al, 2023) cara agar populasi ikan bileh tetap terjaga, maka dilakukan budidaya. Akan tetapi budidaya ikan bileh ini masih kurang diminati pembudidaya selain karena teknologi budidayanya yang masih belum dikuasai dan genetiknya yang kurang bagus, juga pertumbuhannya yang cukup lambat (Islama et al, 2023). Pertumbuhan yang cenderung lambat disebabkan oleh pakan yang diberikan tidak sesuai dengan kebutuhan tubuh ikan tersebut.…”

“…The leading obstacle to aquaculture entrepreneurs is the high cost of the diet. The expenses that cultivators must incur range from 70% -90% of the operational costs, thus hampering the increase of aquaculture production [4] [5]. Local cultivators still use commercial feed in their cultivation activities, in which the purchase price is relatively high and impacts to the production costs.…”
