“…It has a wide range of application potential in oil/water separation, 202,203 membrane distillation, 204,205 liquid/mist collection, 206 liquid diode concern, 207 and functional coating materials. 208 Furthermore, on the basis of the designability and integration capabilities of Janus materials, it can also be used in battery capacitors, 209 catalysis, 210,211 biomedical fields, 212,213 and even developed into flexible wearable smart fabrics 214 or paper films 215 with wetting gradients. Some reviews have summarized the principle, application of special wettability materials, and preparation method of the Janus 2D membranes.…”

“…Surface wettability is an important topic that has influenced most areas of science and technology, from ancient painting to modern industry. Some extreme states of superwettability, including superhydrophobic, superhydrophilic, superoleophobic, and superoleophilic, are now harnessed in many applications, such as liquid separation, , antifogging, , self-cleaning, , antifouling, , fog harvesting, anti-icing, , and so on. On account of the significant ability to generate changes in wetting behavior between superhydrophobic and superhydrophilic surfaces, superwettable surfaces with smart wetting switches have merit and broad applications in the fields of droplet manipulation, microfluidic devices, and molecular sensing. The introduction of analytes (like surfactants) or external stimuli (such as pH, temperature, electricity, and magnetism) reduces the droplet surface tension (ST) or increases the surface energy (SE), which alters the superwettability behavior, manifested in contact angle (CA), rolling angle (RA), and bounce.…”
