SupersymmetricAdS6viaTDuality

Abstract: We present a new supersymmetric AdS(6) solution of type IIB supergravity with SU(2) isometry. Through the AdS/CFT correspondence, this has potentially very interesting implications for 5D fixed point theories. This solution is the result of a non-Abelian T duality on the known supersymmetric AdS(6) solution of massive IIA. The SU(2) R symmetry is untouched, leading to sixteen supercharges and preserved supersymmetry.

“…One can also study a few variations on the Brandhuber-Oz solution, such as orbifolding it [14] and performing T-duality [15,16] or even the more recently developed [17,18] nonabelian T-duality [16,19]. The latter is not thought to be an actual duality, but rather a solution-generating duality; thus the solution should represent some new physics, although its global features are puzzling [19].…”

“…This intuition is based on ref. [37], where T-duality with respect to a global SU(2) isometry generated a surprising new supersymmetric AdS 6 solution to IIB supergravity.…”

“…In this work we present some further examples. Interesting solutions generated this way 6 are the only explicit AdS 6 solution to Type IIB supergravity constructed in [37] 7 and the recent N = 2 AdS 4 solution to M-theory with purely magnetic flux constructed in [42], which provides the only such explicit solution besides the Pernici-Sezgin background derived in the eighties [43]. Both these solutions may play an important role as gravity duals of, respectively, 5d fixed point theories arising from Type IIB brane configurations, probably from 7-branes as in [44] (see [45]), and of 3d SCFTs arising from M5-branes wrapped on 3d manifolds in the context of the 3d-3d correspondence [46].…”

“…The relevant RR potentials for the D7-brane are C (0) = χ, C (2) = Re(C) vol S 2 , C (6) and C (8) , where C (6) and C (8) are determined in terms of the lower RR potentials and B 2 [37]. The symmetries of the background constrain them to take the form C (6) = C 6 vol AdS 6 , C (8) We derive explicit expressions for C 6 , C 8 and their field strengths in appendix C. We now evaluate more explicitly the equations of motion resulting from the action in (B.5). We start with the worldvolume gauge field which determines F via F = dA.…”
