Superior sagittal sinus thrombosis as a focal point of pulmonary embolism

Abstract: This article represents the discussion of a clinical case of superior sagittal sinus thrombosis as a focal point of fatal pulmonary embolism. Pulmonary embolism is a life-threatening condition, with a mortality rate of up to 40%. The direct source of pulmonary embolism is deep vein thrombosis of the lower extremities and pelvis in 80–90% of all cases. The veins of the upper extremities and venous heart cause it less often.
