Keterbatasan fasilitas irigasi memaksa petani mengolah lahan tergesa- gesa untuk mendapatkan air yang cukup, akibatnya proses pelumpuran tanah tidak sempurna, potensi tanah sebagai seed bank sehingga muncul masalah gulma yang sulit dikendalikan. Petani menanam bibit yang tersedia di pasaran tanpa menelusuri asal-usul benih, varietas dan mutu benih. Akibatnya produktivitas usahatani padi di wilayah sasaran semakin menurun. Tujuan yang ingin dicapai adalah terjadi transfer teknologi tepat guna sehingga pengetahuan dan keterampilan petani tentang agribisnis dan pengelolaan hama terpadu (PHT) pada budidaya tanaman padi beras merah meningkat. Kegiatan dilaksanakan di Desa Kateng Kec. Praya Barat Kab. Lombok Tengah dari bulan Januari sampai dengan Juli 2020. Metode kegiatan yang dilaksanakan adalah Program Tindak Partisipatif (Participatori Action Program). Pendekatannya adalah dari bawah dan dari atas (Bottom-up and top down approach) dengan penekanan pada tingkat pengetahuan, keterampilan dan kearifan lokal para petani mitra (Hutwan et al., 2016). Mekanisme pelaksanan melalui beberapa tahap yaitu penyuluhan, penetapan petani sasaran sebagai mitra, pendampingan dan monitoring serta evaluasi program. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa pengetahuan dan keterampilan petani tentang agribisnis dan PHT pada budidaya tanaman padi beras merah meningkat. Hal ini terlihat dari antusiasme petani sasaran mengikuti kegiatan penyuluhan dan pendampingan, serta penerapan teknologi tepat guna antara lain pengolahan tanah, penggunaan benih unggul, pupuk organik dan PHT pada budidaya tanaman padi. Teknologi tepat guna yang diintroduksikan menyebabkan pertumbuhan dan hasil padi beras merah lebih baik, intensitas serangan hama wereng menurun, sehingga memberikan hasil dan keuntungan yang lebih banyak dibandingkan dengan hasil budidaya manual

The selection of plant varieties and the proper gamma dosage will affect germination and nutrient absorption. The goal studies were: (1) to obtain the salinity-tolerant red rice varieties and (2) to obtain the effect of varieties, gamma doses, and their interactions that could be improved the seedling characteristics and nutrient absorption in the vegetative phase of red rice plants under saline stress. The study was conducted at the greenhouse of Growth Center, LLDIKTI-1 Medan, from September until October 2020. This study used a Split Plot Design with the main plot of red rice varieties (V1 = MSP-17, V2 = Inpari-24 Gabusan, V3 = Pamera, V4 = Pamelen; and V5 = Inpara-7) and subplot was the gamma doses (0; 100; 200; 300; 400; 500; 600; and 700 Gy) within three replicates. The parameters were analyzed using ANOVA and set up by DMRT at P < 0.05 with IBM SPSS. The results showed that the varieties significantly affected seedling characteristics and nutrient absorption in the vegetative phase of red rice plants under saline stress. The MSP-17 variety had the greater vigor index, N, K + /Na + , and proline levels and it was classified as saline-tolerant. The low dose of gamma rays (100-200 Gy) could be improved root length and volume, as well as the levels of N, K, and proline of red rice plants were 3.77; 1.95; 8.62; 7.69; and 4.87% compared to the control. The interaction of the MSP-17 variety at low-dose gamma irradiation (0-300 Gy) enhances the greater performance of red rice plants under saline stress.

Adaptation of red rice farmers is an action taken by farmers to change crop cultivation during a prolonged drought, that cause by climate change. Adaptation consists of changes in planting patterns and crop cultivation. This study aims to describe the adaptation of red rice farmers and know the profile that influences the adaptation of red rice farmers to prolonged droughts. The study was conducted in three zones, including the northern zone (Umbulrejo Village), the central zone (Sumbergiri Village), and the southern zone (Sidorejo Village). This study was conducted in Ponjong Subdistrict purposively, on sampling conducted systematically random sampling with 200 respondents. The data were analyze using descriptive analysis, score analysis, and Spearman Rank correlation. The results showed that adaptations applied during prolonged droughts in all three zones were classified as “moderate.” The factors that affected adaptation in all three zones include age, number of family members, farming experience, income, land area, and agricultural ownership. In contrast, gender and education do not affect adaptation.
