Superconductor-semiconductor-super- conductor junction network in bulk polycrystalline composites Y3/4Lu1/4Ba2Cu3O7+ Cu1-xLixO

Abstract: Bulk Y3/4Lu1/4Ba2Cu3O7 + Cu1-xLixO composites with x = 0,0.003 and 0.06 and varied volume content of Cu1-xLixO have been prepared. Analysis of the transport properties of the composites has shown that they can be represented as a network of superconductor-semiconductor-superconductor (S-Sm-S) weak links. The dependence of the critical current density on the normal resistance for the composites studied shows a behaviour similar to that for single Josephson junctions. The experimental temperature dependences of … Show more

“…In previous studies it has been shown that doping the bulk Y123 with CuO [3] or with BaPb 1−x Sn x O 3 [4], leads to a significant increase in the MR response at low magnetic fields as compared to pure Y123. The downside was a hysteretic behaviour reported for the measured resistivity with the cycling of the applied field.…”

“…The composite sample (hereinafter, YBCO-comp) containing 77.5 vol % of the Y 0.75 Lu 0.25 Ba 2 Cu 3 O 7 superconductor and 22.5 vol % of copper oxide CuO was prepared by fast backing technique [53,72]. In this method, the Y 0.75 Lu 0.25 Ba 2 Cu 3 O 7 HTS preliminary prepared by the solid-state synthesis and characterized was used, which was milled in a powder and added with the reagent CuO of special purity grade in a required ratio.…”

“…At the same time, the electrical resistivity ρ in the normal (95 K) state also increases (see Table 1) and there is the correlation with the physical density. In the HTS composites prepared by fast backing technique, the nonsuperconducting component acts as grain boundaries [53,72] and the introduction of an insulator [14,53,72] leads to additional weakening of the Josephson coupling and, consequently, to the very low J C values and high resistivity in the normal state.…”
