Superconductivity in PrBa2Cu3O7: Implications

Abstract: PrBa 2 Cu 3 O 7 (Pr123) is an intrinsic superconductor with Tc ≈ 90 K, as predicted and as recently confirmed by several groups who have synthesized superconducting material under conditions that minimize the number of Pr Ba defects. Based on evidence that the defect responsible for the failure of ordinary Pr123 to superconduct is Pr Ba , the cuprate-plane picture of high-temperature superconductivity must be revised.
