Super-self-duality as analyticity in harmonic superspace

Abstract: A twistor correspondence for the self-duality equations for supersymmetric Yang-Mills theories is developed. Their solutions are shown to be encoded in analytic harmonic superfields satisfying appropriate generalised Cauchy-Riemann conditions. An action principle yielding these conditions is presented.

“…The twistor description of complexified self-dual N -extended SYM theory is known and based on the diagram (4.12) (see e.g., [29,30,32]) or (implicitly) on the diagram (4.6) (see e.g., [37,40]). Here, we consider self-dual N -extended SYM theory in the real setting based on the fibration (4.37).…”

“…36 We use the subscript * to denote the dual supertwistor space, its subspaces and its preimages under projections π2. 37 Recall that we use the subscript * in CP 1 * for distinguishing this Riemann sphere with the coordinates ζ± from the Riemann sphere CP 1 with the coordinates λ±.…”

“…The infinitely large multiplet of interacting massless higher spin fields is analogous to the N =∞ supersymmetric self-dual multiplet presented in [31]. In fact the multiplets described by the three consistent truncations of S ∞ , namely, S 2 , S 3 and S 5 , are remarkably reminiscent of the supersymmetric N =1, 2, 4 self-dual multiplets, respectively [29,30,21]. There appears to exist a correspondence between these pairs of theories.…”
