SUMO Based Platform for Cooperative Intelligent Automotive Agents

Abstract: Starting from the problems of nowadays' urban traffic (congestions, imperfect timing of traffic lights, high impact of lane changes) we investigate the feasibility of a cooperative intelligent agent based solution as an overall control scheme governing the car flow in congested urban intersections. The proposed complex solution features both the intelligent traffic control and the car platooning. In order to test and verify the merits of the proposed solution in urban intersection of a widely variable topology,… Show more

“…Given the stable driving in the tested traffic scenarios, an evaluation of the behavior in more complex scenarios, possibly with several conflict agents, would be interesting. Regarding scenario generation, a coupling with Alekszejenkó and Dobrowiecki (2019) seems possible. To make use of the inter-vehicle and network communication, the agent model could be tested in scenarios with several autonomous agents communicating either with each or other with nearby intersections.…”

“…7) Ballistic [38]: It is a physics-based prediction model that primarily predicts future positions based on the vehicle's current speed and acceleration. 8) SL2015 [39]: This is a model based on safety logic that considers various traffic situations and driver behaviors.…”

“…RR is a conventional pre-configured IM strategy that rotates greenyellow phases in a circular order for a fixed allocated time. The RR IM strategy serves vehicles from one roadway at a time in a fixed direction [28]. The RR IM approach is also called the uniform TLC due to the uniformly distributed green and yellow phases.…”
