Summary of the 2nd International Workshop on Gas-Dynamic Trap based Fusion Neutron Source (GDT-FNS)

Abstract: The 2nd International Workshop on Gas-Dynamic Trap based Fusion Neutron Source (GDT-FNS) was held on 18-19 November 2019 in Novosibirsk, Russian Federation. It followed the First GDT-FNS Workshop, which took place in November 2018 in Hefei, China. The 2nd workshop was attended by thirty participants representing eight institutes and universities from five countries. Oral presentations were broadcast on the internet via the Zoom.us conferencing system and aroused the interest of scientists from Japan, China, US… Show more

“…Initially, this case was highlighted among many others in Ref. [55] in order to compare the stability of anisotropic plasma, which is formed under transverse NBI, with the stability of isotropic plasma. In the A1 model, the R = M variant corresponds to the minimum anisotropy.…”

“…The 3rd GDT-FNS workshop covered the most recent theoretical, experimental and engineering activity related to GDT-based neutron sources and their applications. Recent experimental data featured results from GDT, KMAX and GAMMA-10 mirror machines, which included both new and continuing studies that were reported in the 2nd GDT-FNS workshop [7]. The 3rd GDT-FNS workshop presented an update to the ALIANCE project, which included a refined roadmap, neutron simulations and a conceptualized proposal of a new experimental machine.…”

“…The International Workshop on Gas-dynamic Trap-based Fusion Neutron Source (GDT-FNS) was jointly initiated by HFIPS and BINP aiming to further promote the development of the fusion volumetric neutron source in particular the GDT concept, with the first and second workshop held in Hefei (Nov. 2018) and Novosibirsk (Nov. 2019), respectively [7]. Due to the pandemic situation, the third GDT-FNS workshop, planned to be organized in 2020, was held through the hybrid mode on 13-14 September 2021 in Hefei, China, jointly organized by HFIPS and BINP, the same as the previous two workshops.…”
