Sulphur and Heavy Metal Pollution in Urban Snow: Multi-Elemental Analytical Techniques and Interpretations

Abstract: Three multi-elemental techniques (neutron activation analysis, proton-induced X-ray emission and inductively coupled plasma-atomic emission spectrometry) are described in terms of their special advantages in determining sulphur and heavy metal pollution in urban snow. Environmental analytical interpretations, including wash-out factors, enrichment factors, inter-elemental correlations, mobilization factors, and toxicity potential, are also discussed.
