“…of those who gave a history of taking " salts," while in those who had no such antecedent history the incidence of cyanosis was 29 per cent. It has been suggested that there is a causal relation between premedication with saline purgatives containing sulphur and the occurrence of cyanosis (Paton and Eaton, 1937;Discombe, 1937). The close equivalence of the percentages in the two groups in this series and the absence of severe cyanosis rather suggests that the enemata may have some preventive action on the occurrence of cyanosis.…”
