Abstract: The electrochemiluminescence (ECL) effectiveness of the tris-(bipyridine) ruthenium(II) (Ru(bpy) 3 2+ ) system is hampered by aggregation-caused quenching (ACQ) in optoelectronic systems as a result of π−π accumulation of the aromatic ring structure.
