Sulfonated Silica Coated CoFe2O4 Magnetic Nanoparticles for the Synthesis of 3,4-Dihydropyrimidin-2(1H)-One and Octahydroquinazoline Derivatives

Abstract: Sulfonated-silica-coated cobalt ferrite (CoFe2O4) magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs-SiCoFe-SO3H) are efficient heterogeneous catalysts for the synthesis of 3,4-dihydropyrimidin-2(1H)-one and octahydroquinazoline derivatives in the absence of solvent. The effects of solvent, temperature, and catalyst amount on the reaction are investigated. The easy separation, reusability of the catalyst, simplicity of the procedure, mild reaction conditions, and good yields (68–95%) within short reaction times (15–70 min) are the … Show more

“…Nanoparticles with large surface areas show remarkable catalytic activity in organic reactions, and the utilization of heterogeneous catalysts for the Biginelli reaction has already been explored [14][15][16]. In recent decades, ultrasound-mediated processes gained significant traction, with reports of several successful chemical procedures employing this technique [17][18][19][20].…”

“…Among the electrochemical methods is cyclic voltammetry (CV), which offers great versatility to study electroactive substances. Currently, a wide variety of nanomaterials have been designed for the modification of electroactive surfaces, and to optimize the determination of electroactive compounds of interest by increasing their surface and adsorption sites, improving the selective interactions between the electrode and the substance, and achieving a greater sensitivity and performance [12][13][14][15][16][17].…”
