Abstract: CorrespondenceThree aspects are noteworthy. Firstly, doxapram did not reverse the sedation produced by the induction dose of nalbuphine. Secondly, the massive dose of nalbuphine, without subsequent apnoea, confirmed to us its claimed ceiling respiratory depressant effect, a unique safety feature of this drug. Thirdly, the subsequent rousal produced by naloxone indicates that this is the agent of choice in the event of nalbuphine-induced sedation.
