Turkey is one of the gene centers of fig in the world and there are great variations and distributions in wild fig forms as well as fig cultivars. The primary objective of this study is to select valuable fig genetic resources in Ibradi and Kumluca (Antalya) province and to conserve the promising figs genetic resources. Populations consisting of native fig genotypes were selected and chracterized in terms of pomological and morphological traits. The data revealed that some of the fruit and leaf characteristics of the investigated fig types were significantly different in terms of location and fig types. Consequently, it is suggested that these promising fig genetic resources could be used for further breeding programs and therefore they need to be preserved.

Although most of the published articles generalize with the fruit of the fig tree (Ficus carica L.), the differentiation between fig and breba is increasingly common in the bibliography. In this regard, keep in mind that the fig tree generally produces two crops a year, the parthenocarpic breba, also called as early fig, and the main non-parthenocarpic crop, the fig proper. In this study, four brebas varieties (‘Colar’, ‘SuperFig1’, ‘Cuello de Dama Negro’ and ‘San Antonio’) were selected in order to identify compositional, nutritional, and chemical diversity. These varieties were chosen for their commercial relevance in Spain. Color (internal and external), fruit and peel weight, size, pH, total soluble solids (TSS), titratable acidity (TA), maturity index (MI), sugar, and organic content were determined for all the breba fruits samples. In addition, polyphenolic profile, amino acids, and volatile aromatic compounds were also identified. The varieties ‘Colar’ and ‘SuperFig1’ showed the highest fruit weight and size, while ‘Cuello de Dama Negro’ presented the higher pulp yield. The higher organic acid and sugar contents were determined for ‘SuperFig1’ and ‘Cuello de Dama Negro’, respectively. Although in low concentrations, the phenolic compound quercetin 3-(6-O-acetyl-beta-glucoside) and the amino acid tyrosine were only detected in the ‘’Cuello de Dama Negra’ and ‘SuperFig1’ fruits, respectively. Of the eighty volatile aromatic compounds identified, only eight were common in four varieties. An important knowledge gap was identified in relation to the characterization of the two Ficus carica L. crops, that is, the differentiation and specification in the literature when working with brebas and/or figs.

Bu çalışmada ayva (Cydonia oblonga Miller) meyvesi ve reçelinin bazı fiziksel ve kimyasal özellikleri ile toplam fenolik madde miktarları ve antioksidan aktiviteleri belirlenmiştir. Meyveye ait toplam kuru madde, suda çözünür kuru madde, kül ve protein oranları sırasıyla %17,11, %14,00, %0,42 ve %0,77; toplam şeker ve sakaroz miktarları ise %9,52 ve %1,9 olarak belirlenmiştir. Ayrıca meyvenin 11,81 mg/100 g düzeyinde C vitamini içerdiği ve toplam fenolik madde miktarının 15,69 μg GAE/mg olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Antioksidan aktivite β-karoten ağartma yöntemi ile, meyvede %20 olarak belirlenmiştir. 4±2 ˚C'de ve 20±2 ˚C'de cam kavanoz ve plastik ambalajlarda 6 ay depolanan reçel örneklerinde analizler 0. (başlangıç), 3. ve 6. aylarda yapılmış olup, depolama sıcaklığı; kuru madde, suda çözünür kuru madde, titrasyon asitliği ve L değeri üzerine istatistiki olarak çok önemli düzeyde(P<0,01) etkili bulunmuştur. Ambalaj tipinin suda çözünür kuru madde, kül, protein, toplam şeker, invert şeker ve sakaroz miktarı üzerine istatistiki olarak çok önemli (P<0,01), toplam kuru madde miktarı üzerine ise önemli düzeyde (P<0,05) etkili olduğu belirlenmiştir. Depolama süresi açısından örnekler değerlendirildiğinde depolama süresinin; kuru madde, suda çözünür kuru madde, pH, titrasyon asitliği, invert şeker miktarları ve a, b değerleri üzerine istatistiki olarak çok önemli seviyede (P<0,01) etkili olduğu görülmüştür.
