“…A dificuldade na retomada do desenvolvimento desses embriões somáticos foi relacionada a anomalias no meristema apical caulinar e nos cotilédones, características que podem derivar de processos mutagênicos durante a embriogênese somática e também da produção inadequada de carboidratos de reserva (Mendes-da-Glória 1998). Segundo Konrádová et al (2002), as células suspensoras do ápice caulinar são locais com alta atividade enzimática, como de sacarose sintase, metabolizando a sacarose para fornecimento de energia e carbono para as etapas iniciais do desenvolvimento embrionário zigótico.
