Abstract: Introduction Immune thrombocytopenia is an autoimmune disorder associated with increased thrombocyte destruction and impaired production in the bone marrow. Proposed mechanisms include an antibody or autoreactive T-cell-associated autoimmunity and thrombopoietin deficiency among others.
