“…NTM infection has similar smear positive to MTB, making it a difficult condition to evaluate and differentiate. In the previous studies, Dumic et al in 2021 [ 10 ] and Gopalaswamy et al in 2020 [ 11 ] found that adequate source control is a successful treatment option for rapidly growing NTM infection in immunocompetent patients in the absence of antimicrobial therapy, which is not the case in MTB infection.…”

“…A biologics side-effects induced case ( Frizzell et al, 2020 ) showed that omadacycline monotherapy at a dose of 300 mg orally daily for 4 months was efficient against M. chelonae skin and skin structure infections without recurrence in a 1-year follow-up. Surgical debridement, incising, draining, and source control are recommended in treatment if there is extensive involvement of extra-pulmonary M. chelonae infection ( Dumic and Lutwick, 2021 ). Like M. marinum , thermal therapy was efficacious due to its thermal sensitivity.…”

“…The selection of antibiotics is mainly based on the results of drug susceptibility tests. According to the results (Chang and Whipps, 2015;Dumic and Lutwick, 2021), RGM is more sensitive to tigecycline, tobramycin, clarithromycin, and amikacin. However, the susceptibility profile varies from species to species.…”

“…Only one negative cultural exam on the sputum was performed to confirm NTM-LD recovery. It should be noted that, in some cases, successful treatment can be achieved with source control alone [59]. Table 1 summarizes the cases reported in the literature of NTM-LD that occurred in patients undergoing immunotherapy for cancer.…”
