Successful treatment of pure red cell aplasia and autoimmune cytopenia with cyclosporine and prednisolone in a patient with Sjgren?s syndrome

Abstract: A 68-year-old woman was admitted to our hospital with xerophthalmia, xerostomia, leukopenia, and thrombocytopenia. She was diagnosed to have Sjögren's syndrome and autoimmune cytopenia. After 11 months, she was readmitted with severe anemia and reticulocytopenia. Mild hemolysis was seen, and bone marrow aspirate showed markedly decreased erythropoiesis. An association of pure red cell aplasia (PRCA) and autoimmune hemolytic anemia was diagnosed. After treatment with cyclosporine and prednisolone, her anemia dr… Show more

“…First, 25 mL of 1000 nM aptamer was denatured at 95 °C for 5 min, frozen in ice for 5 min, and equilibrated at room temperature for 5 min. Next, 25 mL of different concentrations of CsA (5,10,20,40, 100, 300, 500, 1000, and 5000 ng mL −1 ) were mixed thoroughly and incubated for 25 min at room temperature. Then, 50 mL of 0.2 g L −1 AuNPs was added to the different concentrations of CsA solution, mixed, and incubated for another 15 min at room temperature.…”

“…Cyclosporine A (CsA) is an immunosuppressive drug that can inhibit the abnormal immune response of the body and is widely used in clinical practice to prevent and treat transplant rejection, diseases caused by hypersensitivity reactions, and autoimmune diseases, etc. [1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9] However, the blood concentration of CsA is closely related to the degree of immunosuppression and hepatic and renal toxicity, showing great intraindividual and interindividual pharmacokinetic differences and a relatively narrow therapeutic window. [10][11][12] Therefore, blood concentration must be monitored promptly during clinical application to ensure the therapeutic effect while minimizing rejection reactions and toxic side effects.…”
