Successful pregnancy and live birth after intrauterine administration of autologous platelet-rich plasma in a woman with recurrent implantation failure: A case report

Abstract: Background:Platelets contain a significant amount of growth factors that have positive effects on local tissue repair and endometrial receptivity.Case:Here we present a 45-yr-old woman with primary infertility and two failed in vitro fertilization (IVF) cycles who was candidate to receive donor eggs. Five consecutive frozen-thawed embryo transfer cycles with good quality embryos were performed within 2 yr. With the diagnosis of recurrent implantation failure (RIF), the patient was treated for improving endomet… Show more

“…In 2017, Farimani et al 32 described the first‐time use of PRP in a 45‐year‐old woman with a history of two embryo implantation failures who underwent an IVF cycle with donor eggs. Dieamant et al recently proposed a new therapeutic protocol to improve endometrial receptivity in which IU infusion of PRP was associated with the systemic use of G‐CSF.…”

“…While there are many studies of PRP, which includes several growth factors, in different disciplines, studies conducted in the field of gynecology and obstetrics are limited in the literature. It has been stated that PRP contributes to the endometrial growth and thickening and may be effective in infertility in patients with a thin and weak endometrium 3537 . Farimani et al have stated that local PRP administration prior to embryo transfer in recurrent implantation failures may improve the success of implantation 38 .…”

“…This first report was followed by others [72][73][74] showing an improvement on endometrial growth and fertility treatment outcome in patients with thin endometrium. Last, a case report described the successful pregnancy outcome of a patient diagnosed with recurrent implantation failure treated with autologous PRP intrauterine administration prior to embryo transfer [75]. Data presented on a recent report [72] suggests that PRP intrauterine infusion promotes neo-angiogenesis.…”
