“…The degree of stromal thickening and scarring and the presence of nystagmus, which can lead to detachment of the endothelial graft, contribute to poor DSEK outcomes in CHED 20. Mittal et al noted that DSEK is technically challenging in CHED because of the poor view through the opaque cornea and difficulty in Descemet’s membrane removal, which is firmly attached 3. As Descemet’s membrane is abnormally thickened in CHED leaving it in place as might be appropriate for some indications for DSEK would not be advised for CHED.…”

“…Since this disorder mainly involves the endothelium and the Descemet's membrane (DM), a Descemet's stripping endothelial keratoplasty (DSEK) may help in the management of these cases. However, the literature pertaining to application of this procedure in CHED is limited to a few reports 10 11. Though the outcomes of DSEK in CHED10 11 are encouraging, no data are available that compare its outcome with that of PK in a similar situation.…”

“…[7][8][9][10][11][12] Descemet stripping endothelial keratoplasty (DSEK) could be the procedure of choice, and it has been employed with variable success. 13,14 However, no report is currently available regarding this procedure performed in newborns younger than 1 year. Therefore, we thought it worthwhile to report our experience about a successful endothelial keratoplasty (EK) we performed in a 3-month-old baby affected by CHED.…”
