Subsurface Imaging of 2D Seismic Data Using Kirchhoff Time Migration Method, Central Iraq

Abstract: Kirchhoff Time Migration method was applied in pre-and post-Stack Time Migration for post-processing of images collected from Balad-Samarra (BS-92) survey line that is sited across Ajeel anticline oilfield. The results showed that Ajeel anticline structure was relocated at the correct position in the migrated stacked section. The two methods (Pre and Post) of migration processing showed enhanced subsurface images and increased horizontal resolution, which was clear after the broadening the syncline and narrowi… Show more

“…3-D display of subsurface structural geology data files for a small area within the study area (seven profiles), mapped into a single data file that can be read using the RES3DINV software which tends to be inverted. RES3DINV is a computer software [30] that will automatically determine a 3-D resistivity model below the surface using data obtained from a 3-D electrophoresis image [31,32]. The inversion routine used by the software is based on the smoothly constrained least-squares method [31].…”

“…Two-dimensional electrical resistivity imaging profiles were centered over an existing buried concrete cast to verify the suitability of the dipole-dipole group to identify the buried shallow structures. For each profile [15], one hundred twenty electrodes were connected with a minimum electrode spacing of 0.5 m to the ABEM SAS 4000 resistivity system to collect the apparent resistivity data. RES2DINV uses the finite difference method based on regular least-squares optimization procedures [16].…”
