Abstract:The cyclopropylcarbinyl (CPC) and bicyclobutonium (BCB) structures of the C4H7+ cation have been proposed as intermediates in various synthetic transformations forming cyclopropylcarbinyl, cyclobutyl, or homoallyl products. It has recently been recognized that such cations, when generated from chiral electrophiles, are themselves chiral and can react with nucleophiles stereospecifically. However, the CPC and BCB cations are in equilibrium with each other and with other related structures such as the cyclobutyl… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
