However, a growing literature suggests that PTSD treatment in tandem or integrated with SUD treatment, including exposure and trauma processing therapies, is in fact acceptable to and effective with patients in SUD treatment with PTSD (e.g., Back, Brady, Sonne, & Verduin 2006;Hien et al, 2009;Najavits, Schmitz, Gotthardt, & Weiss, 2005;Riggs & Foa, 2008;Triffleman, Carroll, & Kellogg, 1999).
