“…A variety of heterometallic warwickites has been synthesized to date; MgGaBO 4 , MgFeBO 4 , MgVBO 4 , MgCrBO 4 , CoFeBO 4 , CoCrBO 4 , NiFeBO 4 , Fe 1.91 V 0.09 BO 4 , CaInBO 4 are just some representative examples. An important feature of mixed‐metal warwickites is the random distribution of metal ions among nonequivalent metal sites giving rise to random short‐range AF interactions.…”

“…In the case of SSR samples (except for RE = Dy), consecutive melting was found to be a favourable factor for successful synthesis -otherwise, REBO 3 often appeared as a main crystalline phase, indicating the failure of the synthesis. The most likely minor phases (up to several weight percent) in samples synthesized by SSR are of RECa 4 O(BO 3 ) 3 [of the Ca 5 (BO 3 ) 3 F type] and RECa(BO 3 )O; the latter refers to compounds of the warwickite structure, which has been reported for calcium borates only for RE = Sc (Ma et al, 2017) and Y (Zhang et al, 2001), and for InCa(BO 3 )O (Li et al, 2012). The initial identification of these impurity phases was based on the layout of the diffraction peaks and was confirmed by Rietveld refinement.…”

“…Search for new luminescent materials in borates, attentions have been paid to MO-RE 2 O 3 eB 2 O 3 (M ¼ alkaline-earth-metal, RE ¼ rare earth elements) ternary systems, with plenty of phosphor host with outstanding luminescent properties, for instance, YBO 3 [11,12], MgGdB 5 O 10 [13], and CaYBO 4 [14,15]. In 2012, the subsolidus phase relations of CaOeIn 2 O 3 eB 2 O 3 system and the new borate CaInBO 4 (CIBO) were first reported by our group [16]. CIBO crystallizes in the orthorhombic space group Pnma (No.…”
