Suboptimal macronutrient ratios promote cannibalism in a generalist herbivore (Trichoplusia ni)

Abstract: Discretional cannibalism is a widespread phenomenon among lepidopteran herbivores. Herbivores encounter variation in dietary nutrient quality when foraging, which alters feeding behaviour, as well as population‐ and trophic‐level dynamics.
