This article deals with the contextual analysis of the language components that express distant periphery of semantic field of inferiority category. The author states that the category of inferiority is the semantic category with complex system of language means. Such system has the core, near periphery and far periphery. The core includes the elements that are fixed in dictionaries, and are the brightest representatives of the category. Near periphery is formed by means of non-standard lexis: colloquialisms, slang words, special slang, and vulgarisms. Far periphery is presented by euphemisms. The category of inferiority is considered as the constituent of deviation category. Inferiority and Deviation are seen as the system "categorysubcategory." Deviation forms the highest level of categorization. Category of inferiority can be the basic level according to traditional scheme of mental unit structuring. The focus of this work is to present lexical units that form distant periphery of inferiority category taking into account versions of American English, British English, and Australian English. The standard classification of euphemisms, slang words, dysphemisms is taken. The author considers the term "semantic category" as an abstract concept that can "gather" mental units of the same meaning class.

Equivalence and Appropriateness: Divergence Characteristics of Categories under Translation

The authors deal with the notions of equivalence and appropriateness, and describe the divergence characteristics of categories under translation. Equivalence is considered as the quantitative correspondence of source text (ST) to target text (TT), while appropriateness is mentioned as the qualitative correspondence. Equivalent translation is seen in the sense of quantitative correspondence of source text and target text and their means of expression. The authors conclude that the quantitative comparison of ST and TT proves the fact of their prior nonequivalence, and sum up that it is connected with the socalled form of language and its means density. The article deals with the statement that translation might be formed among language groups that lexicalize the contents in a different way. The terms "translation" and "search for an equivalent" are differenciated. Naturalism or translation symmetry is defined as the cases of excessive attention of translators to formal part of their work; it is widely spread in the practice of translation. The terms "meaning" and "content" are mentioned in the following focus: meaning objectifies extralinguistic reality of the unit or text, content specifies intralinguistic one.

Nowadays the need to teach students using Weblogs has become one of the most important issues discussed by teachers and researchers. Information and communication technologies have been an integral part of our life, providing different opportunities in learning English as a second language. The aim of this study is to investigate how it is possible to use Web 2.0. technologies to create additional opportunities for language learning. We overview the benefits of using blogs in a language classroom, possible ways of teaching English to engineering students using Web 2.0. technology as a learning tool. The major findings of this research proved that integration of blogs greatly contributes to the process of foreign language teaching and learning. Finally, practical recommendations, including the information about the blog and some kinds of tasks have been given to educators and researchers.
