“…This phase diagram is quite different from those reported to date. 7 The formation compositions, solubility ranges, and tie-line connections to other oxycarbonate phases that were formed at the regions that are labeled "85-3C" (hereafter called the 85-3C phase) and "21-C" (hereafter called the 21-C solid solution) in Fig. 1 were different from those reported by Lin et al 7 In the BaO(BaCO 3 )-CaO system, no binary compound was formed.…”

“…The formation composition and crystal structure of the 85-3C phase (Ba 8 Ca 16/15 Cu 64/15 ) 11.20 (CO 3 ) 2.66 ) was similar to that of Ba 8 Ca 1−x Cu 4 O 10−2x (CO 3 ) 3+x (where 0 Յ x Յ 0.35), which had P4/mmm symmetry and lattice parameters a ‫ס‬ 0.8117 nm and c ‫ס‬ 0.8121 nm. 7 However, according to detailed XRD results, we determined that the 85-3C phase was formed only at Ba:Ca:Cu ‫ס‬ 15:2:8. In the compositions that were reported by Lin et al, 7 the 21-C solid solution and the 85-3C phase coexisted.…”

“…Because of the presence of CaCO 3 in the sample, attempts were made with Ba 4 CaCu 3 O 8+d replaced by one of the related oxycarbonate phases reported in the literature [8,[17][18][19] but remained unsuccessful. They systematically led to refinement instabilities and/or to unphysical occupational and displacement parameters and to large R factors.…”

“…The overall oxygen content, E10.5 per formula unit to be compared with 14 if all O sites were fully occupied, is due to a partial occupancy of the oxygen positions located in the equatorial plane of the (Cu,Ca)O 6 octahedra. A third ternary compound with composition Ba 2 CaCuO 4 was reported by Lin and Wu [7] but its diffraction pattern was later assigned to Ba 4 CaCu 2 O 7+d (CO 3 ) [8].…”
