Su1398 COST ANALYSIS OF ENDOSCOPIC ULTRASOUND GUIDED FINE NEEDLE BIOPSY NEEDLE VERSUS CONVENTIONAL FINE NEEDLE ASPIRATION NEEDLE IN PATIENTS WITH PANCCREATIC CANCER UNDERGOING INDEX DIAGNOSTIC ENDOSCOPIC ULTRASOUND

Abstract

Specimens procured from both liver lobes was insignificantly better than that of one liver lobe with respect to mean AL (26.6 mm vs 17.4 mm), mean LIC (20.1 mm vs 14.5 mm), and mean CPT (21.7 vs 17); p > 0.1. There was no difference with respect to mean AL, mean LIC and mean CPT between the 2 different core needles used, p > 0.1. Patients were recovered post EUS-LB as per standard post endoscopy recovery protocols prior to discharge or transfer to hospital rooms for a mean of 80AE22 minutes. One patient was admitted 2 days after EUS-LB for observation of mild symptomatic anemia and found to have a subcapsular hematoma that was treated by intravenous hydration but didn't require blood transfusion or intervention. Three (8.8%) patients developed post-procedural abdominal pain requiring narcotics. There were no adverse events in the post-OLT subset. Conclusion: EUS-LB using a 19-gauge core needle via modified wet suction technique is a safe and effective procedure for evaluating patients with elevated liver tests, including post-OLT patients. Procedures can be performed in conjunction with ERCP, when appropriate, and EUS-LB can be done using standard post-endoscopy recovery protocols.
