Study on wind load shape factor of long-span stadium roof

Abstract: A long-span stadium roof has always been a wind load sensitive system, given its usual complex curved surface. However, there is no definite method for calculating the wind load shape factor of the complex building in the code. Based on this, the standard [Formula: see text] model was applied to the computational fluid dynamics numerical simulation of a long-span stadium roof at the wind attack angles of 0°–180°. The pressure distribution on the top and bottom surfaces of the stadium roof and the wind… Show more

“…Blocken et al (2015) conducted a CFD study and field measurement of wind characteristics for a natural complex terrain. Since the field measurement is expensive and timeconsuming, CFD becomes a useful tool to study wind characteristics (Guo et al, 2020a;Xia et al, 2011). Yan and Li (2016) proposed a field measurement and CFD simulation-coupled approach to reproduce the spatial variability of wind speed of a complex terrain.…”

“…Nowadays, works related to the subject of wind load effect on structures can be divided into two categories: devices (structures in motion) [1,7,11,12,15,17,24] and motionless structures [8,10,22,23].…”

“…Research on the influence of wind load on motionless structures generally focuses on the study of building environment [10,22,23] and related elements [8]. In this type of research, computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software is the most commonly used method, which allows to determine the aerodynamic parameters of the tested structures.…”
