Study on Transverse Strength of the Deck-Container Ships due to Laying All Containers on Deck

Abstract: The strength of transversal structure of the ship has a great effect on the safety of ship. Shipswill experience conditions that affect the strength of the ships structure. A deck-container ships are the ships that all container are loaded on deck such as MV. Khendaga Nusantara series ships. The transversal strength of the ships is loaded mainly by the weight of cargolaying on deck.. This research aims to determine the transverse strength of a deck-container ship due to the all container loads on deck. The res… Show more

“…adalah tegangan maximum yang bekerja pada struktur serta SF adalah safety factor (SF>1) [12]. Salah satu cara melihat keamanan konstruksi dengan mengamati nilai stress ratio yang diperoleh dengan membandingkan tegangan yang terjadi pada konstruksi akibat beban luar yang bekerja dan tegangan ijin material dimana nilai stress ratio harus bernilai lebih kecil dari 1 (<1) [13].…”

“…Alamsyah et al, analyzed the strength of pontoon lift and its fatigue life using FEM [6]. Munandar et al, investigated the transverse strength of the container ship's deck due to all container loads using FEM [7]. The finite element analysis application works with the finite element method system where the solution to the object is done by discretizing it by dividing or splitting the object of one unit into a finite number of elements, namely into smaller parts connected by nodes.…”

“…One of the assessments carried out is to determine the strength of the construction. It is conducted by detecting the stress ratio in which it is compared to the working stress that occurs in the construction due to external loads that happened on the ship with the allowable stress of the material [10]. To fulfill the allowable stress (yield strength), the modulus of construction is increased by increasing the thickness of the plate or longitudinal carling [11].…”
