Study on the Synthesis and Tribological Property of Fe3O4 Based Magnetic Fluids

Abstract: In this paper, Fe 3 O 4 based magnetic fluids with different particle concentrations were prepared by the coprecipitation technique. The size of the Fe 3 O 4 nanoparticles is about 13 nm and their shape is spherical. The tribological performances of the fluids with different concentration Fe 3 O 4 nanoparticles were evaluated in a MMW-1A four-ball machine. The results show that the tribological performance of magnetic fluids with proper Fe 3 O 4 nanoparticles can be improved significantly. The maximum nonseize… Show more

“…Huang et al 22 reported the effect of magnetite nanoparticle on tribological property of paraffin oil which showed improvement of load carrying capacity and anti-wear property of the formulated lubricant compared to pure paraffin oil. Ziang et al 23 described the tribological and tribochemical properties of magnetite (Fe 3 O 4 ) nanoflakes as additive in mineral base fluids.…”

“…The lubrication properties of FFs containing Mn 0.78 Zn 0.22 Fe 2 O 4 and Fe 3 O 4 nanoparticles were examined by Wang et al . and Huang et al ., respectively, using a four ball tester. Both experimental results showed clearly that the FFs have much better friction reduction and anti‐wear abilities than the base oil (Figure ).…”
