Study on the solution and solid-state fluorescence of novel BF2complexes with (Z)-2-[phenanthridin-6(5H)-ylidene]-1-phenylethanone and its derivatives as ligands

Abstract: A family of novel N,O-chelated BF2 complexes with intense solution and solid-state emission were synthesized and their photophysical properties were studied.

“…Furthermore, it was implied that the nitrogen atom could contribute to suppressing ACQ by partially disordering π‐stacking at the boron complex moiety. Based on these results, we designed ketoiminate complexes by employing fused structures in order to realize constant emission efficiencies in the solid state, such as the amorphous and crystal forms, as well as in solution. By introducing the fused structure at the nitrogen atom in the ketoiminate ligand, molecular motions should be effectively suppressed.…”

“…Severaln ew approaches involving different methods to afford rigid and twisted molecules with high luminescencei ns olution and in the solid state have been reported in the literature. [5][6][7][8][9][10] The introductiono f bulky substituents on the periphery,c onjugation-induced rigidity,l ocking of the aromatic rings with heteroatoms,h ydrogen bondinga nd metal ionc omplexation are some of the strategies used to afford molecules with high luminescence in the solid state and in solution. “…The general method of the synthesis of tetramethylammonium phenyltriethylborate salt (B6) and dyes 1, 2, 3 and 4 together with their spectral characteristic are described elsewhere [26][27][28][29][30]. Solvents and monomers [trimethylolpropane triacrylate (TMPTA), 1,6-hexanediol diacrylate (HDODA), lauryl acrylate (LA)] were obtained commercially from Aldrich Chemical Co. and used as received.…”
