In view of the characteristics of the high content of SO42−, Fe2+ and Mn2+ in acid mine drainage (AMD) and low pH value, based on adsorption and biological methods, coal gangue was combined with sulfate-reducing bacteria (SRB). On this basis, four dynamic columns, including Column 1 (SRB combined with spontaneous combustion gangue from the Gaode coal mine), Column 2 (SRB combined with spontaneous combustion gangue from Haizhou), Column 3 (SRB combined with gangue from Haizhou), and Column 4 (SRB combined with gangue from Shanxi), were constructed. The efficacy of four columns was compared by the inflow of AMD with different pollution load. Results showed that the repair effect of four columns was: Column 3 > Column 2 > Column 1 > Column 4. In the second stage of the experiment, the repair effect of Column 3 was the best. The average effluent pH value and oxidation reduction potential (ORP) value were 9.09 and –262.83 mV, the highest removal percentages of chemical oxygen demand (COD) and SO42− were 84.41% and 72.73%, and the average removal percentages of Fe2+, Mn2+ were 98.70% and 79.97%, respectively. At the end of the experiment, when deionized water was injected, the fixed effect of AMD in the four columns was stable and no secondary release appeared.

In this study, surface modification of coal gangue (CG) was performed with titanate coupling agent 201 (isopropyl tri(dioctylpyrophosphate) titanate), and the effects of surface modifier on mechanical properties and thermal stability of high‐density polyethylene filled with CG (HDPE/CG) and high‐density polyethylene filled with modified CG (HDPE/mCG) composites were investigated. The coupling agent was successfully grafted on CG surface through chemical reaction according to the analyses of Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT‐IR) and X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and the coupling agent can effectively enhance the hydrophobicity of surface that was verified by water contact angle beyond 90° of modified CG sample. With the introduction of coupling agent, some enhancements of tensile strength, flexural strength, and impact strength were observed in HDPE/mCG compared with HDPE/CG, due to the improved compatibility between mCG fillers and matrix. The increased storage modulus and decreased loss factor of HDPE/mCG composite further confirm the stronger interface adhesion after modification. Moreover, it is found that titanate coupling agent 201 can improve the thermal stability of HDPE/mCG composite to some extent.

China is the world’s largest coal producer country. However, large-scale coal mining has led to severe environmental pollution issues such as surface subsidence and gangue piling up. The gangue discharging amount has ranked the first in the world and coal mine enterprises are facing enormous discharging reduction pressure. This paper summarizes the research progress of the solid backfilling mining technology and then illustrates the realistic demands and significance of implementing underground coal-waste separation. It also focuses on the technical principles, systems and key equipment of the common underground coal-waste separation methods, such as the selective crushing method, the dense medium shallow groove method, the vibro-assisted jigging method and full-size water separation method and ray identification method. In addition, the selection steps of underground coal-waste separation method, the design process of large section separation chamber and the design principle of separation and backfilling system are proposed, finally, the mining-separating-backfilling + X for coal mining is put forward. By combining the technology of mining-separating-backfilling with other technologies, such as gob-side entry retaining with non-pillar mining, gas extraction, solid waste treatment, water protection mining, mining under buildings, railways and water bodies, the integrated mining methods, mining-separating-backfilling + setting pillars, gas drainage, treatment, protection and prevention methods are formed. It also introduced the ‘mining-separating-backfilling + gas extraction’ technology’s whole idea, system arrangement, separation equipment and practical engineering application effects based on the specific engineering case of pingmei no. 12 coal mine. The results indicate that the integration of underground coal-waste separation and solid backfilling technology could achieve gangue discharging reduction, underground washing and surface subsidence control. It is effective at realizing green mining.
