Study on the preparation method of in-situ synthesized whisker toughened ceramic materials

Abstract

The advantages and disadvantages of different in-situ whisker synthesis processes are analyzed. The latest research progress on the in-situ synthesis of whisker toughening Al 2 O 3 -based and Si 3 N 4 -based ceramic tool materials are reviewed, and corresponding solutions to the problems existing in in-situ synthesis are proposed. It is believed that different in-situ synthesis processes have their own characteristics, and reasonable control of process conditions can obtain high-quality whiskers, thereby improving the comprehensive mechanical properties of ceramic tool materials.
