Study on the Frontal Axis and the Scenery to the Direction of the Axis of the Jodo Hall of the Buddhist Temple Jodo-Ji

Abstract: The Jodo Hall of the Buddhist temple Jodo-Ji (1197, designated national treasure) was originally built by a priest Chogen on a low hill with a broad westward view in the Obe-no-sho manor area, and its frontal axis leans at an angle of approximately nine degrees from due west toward the north. Focusing on this deviation of the frontal axis, this research studies the characteristics of the frontal axis of the Jodo Hall and the features of scenery open out on this frontal axis.
